Overview: 

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Part-Time Shelter Monitor on behalf of a local non-profit homeless shelter in Bremerton. This position plays a critical role in providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for shelter guests. The Shelter Monitor will assist with daily operations, monitor client safety, maintain facility standards, and support shelter staff and volunteers. 

 

Job Duties: 

• Monitor shelter operations during assigned shifts, including opening and closing responsibilities. 

• Admit guests into the shelter and enforce shelter policies and procedures. 

• Issue bedding and basic necessities to shelter guests as needed. 

• Conduct regular walkthroughs of sleeping areas, restrooms, and common spaces to ensure safety and security. 

• Maintain a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment for shelter guests, staff, and volunteers. 

• De-escalate conflicts and communicate concerns to supervisors as necessary. 

• Complete daily shelter logs and incident reports with accurate and detailed information. 

• Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of the shelter facility and surrounding property. 

• Launder blankets, towels, and bedding as time permits. 

• Support and orient volunteers regarding safety guidelines and shelter procedures. 

• Maintain strict confidentiality. 

• Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. 

• Perform additional duties as assigned. 

Requirements: 

• Ability to pass a criminal background check. 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. 

• Experience working with vulnerable populations is preferred but not required. 

• Must be a team player committed to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. 

• Ability to maintain accurate written documentation and incident reports. 

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, preferred. 

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as needed. 

Hours/Shift:

Part-Time, schedule varies, typically 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM, 20 to 25 hours per week. 

 

Pay:

$19.24 / hour
