Project Estimator 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Estimator to join our estimating and preconstruction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial HVAC and plumbing estimating and a solid understanding of mechanical construction, project plans, specifications, and subcontractor/vendor pricing.

This position will be responsible for reviewing construction documents, preparing accurate and competitive estimates, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing, and supporting the team throughout the bidding and preconstruction process. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in Procore and Building Connected and have the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and related construction drawings and specifications.
• Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC and plumbing projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate scopes of work.
• Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, bid requirements, and project schedules.
• Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, exclusions, and potential project risks.
• Solicit competitive pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Review and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare bid summaries and assist with finalizing competitive project proposals.
• Utilize Building Connected to identify, track, and manage bid opportunities and invitations.
• Utilize Procore for project documentation, estimating/preconstruction coordination, and project information.
• Communicate with general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and internal project teams.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project meetings as needed.
• Assist with value engineering and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain organized estimating files, bid documents, takeoffs, and pricing information.
• Meet established bid deadlines while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Assist project management and operations teams with estimating-related questions during project turnover.
• Stay current with material pricing, labor costs, construction methods, and industry trends.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in commercial mechanical estimating, with significant experience in HVAC and plumbing.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems, materials, installation methods, and construction practices.
• Proven experience performing mechanical quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed estimates.
• Experience reviewing construction plans, specifications, and bid documents.
• Experience working with general contractors and subcontractors in the commercial construction industry.
• Proficiency with Procore.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict bid deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• English and Spanish required for the role.
