The Specialized Recruiting Group of Express Employment is partnering with a reputable interior building materials company on the south side of Indianapolis to identify a qualified Inside Sales / Customer Service Associate. Position Summary

The Counter Sales / Customer Service Associate provides high-level customer support and sales assistance to contractors and walk-in customers. This position is responsible for managing customer interactions from initial inquiry through order completion while supporting internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations. Because this is a small, fast-paced environment, flexibility and a team-first mindset are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and emails promptly and professionally
• Greet and assist walk-in customers
• Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
• Up-sell and cross-sell additional products and supplies when appropriate
• Prepare quotes, enter orders, and input job pricing accurately
• Accept payments and apply them to the appropriate customer accounts
• Support the outside sales team with order entry and customer coordination
• Work closely with dispatch to schedule deliveries efficiently
• Coordinate with warehouse staff for customer pickups and deliveries
• Maintain showroom inventory, organization, and cleanliness
• Reorder products to ensure inventory levels are maintained
• Address and resolve customer service concerns professionally
• Build relationships with new customers and maintain long-term customer partnerships
• Gather customer feedback to help improve service and operations
• Assist with merchandising and branch sales initiatives
• Perform additional duties as assigned—this is a collaborative environment where everyone helps out

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of inside sales experience required
• Experience with interior building products strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent time-management and organizational abilities
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including MS Word and Excel
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented with a strong customer-service focus
• Positive attitude, team-player mentality, and willingness to learn
• Comfortable handling difficult situations professionally
