Position Overview

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Enter and process invoices, bills, payments, and financial transactions
• Prepare customer invoices and follow up on outstanding accounts
• Process vendor payments and maintain accurate records
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Maintain the general ledger and assist with journal entries
• Assist with payroll and payroll-related records
• Track trucking-related expenses, including fuel, repairs, maintenance, and other operating costs
• Review and organize driver and company expense reports
• Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures
• Prepare basic financial reports for management
• Assist with GST/HST and other tax-related documentation
• Communicate with customers, vendors, employees, and management regarding accounting matters
• Perform other bookkeeping and administrative duties as required

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
• Strong Excel and computer skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently
• Previous trucking or transportation industry experience is an asset
• Payroll experience is an asset

Schedule

• Approximately 3 days per week
• Days and hours to be discussed based on availability and company needs

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Previous experience in trucking or transportation accounting is considered an asset.
