Electromechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Santa Teresa, NM
Pay: $22.50–$30.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Rotating shift, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electromechanical Maintenance Technician to join a wire manufacturing operation in Santa Teresa, NM. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated production equipment to minimize downtime and keep manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have strong industrial maintenance experience, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.

  • Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.

  • Inspect, test, adjust, and replace motors, sensors, switches, relays, bearings, belts, chains, gears, and other components.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled machinery, control panels, and automated production systems.

  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, including 24VDC and AC control circuits.

  • Repair and maintain conveyors, wire-processing equipment, motors, drives, and other manufacturing machinery.

  • Use electrical and mechanical test equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, and other diagnostic tools.

  • Assist with equipment installation, setup, modification, and commissioning.

  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and accurately document work performed.

  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production emergencies.

  • Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions to reduce downtime.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.

  • Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Work closely with production personnel, supervisors, and other maintenance team members.

  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance preferred.

  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience working with motors, electrical controls, sensors, drives, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.

  • Basic knowledge of PLCs and automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs.

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment safely.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work a rotating 7:00 AM–7:00 PM shift and adjust to changing schedules as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated areas when necessary.

  • Ability to safely lift and move maintenance tools, equipment, and components.

  • Ability to work around industrial machinery, electrical equipment, noise, heat, and other manufacturing conditions.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
