Shop Manager

Located in Fredericksburg, VA

Salary: $58K-$69K

Position Summary:  We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Shop Manager to oversee daily operations of a busy welding and fabrication shop.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily shop operations, production schedules, and project timelines.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize fabrication and welding workloads and maximize efficiency.
• Monitor project progress to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, vendors, and suppliers regarding project requirements and delivery schedules.
• Manage shop inventory, materials, equipment, and tooling needs.
• Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project requirements. In addition, is responsible for:
• Team Leadership
• Quality Control
• Safety & Compliance
• Customer & Business Support

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong understanding of MIG, TIG, stick welding, fabrication processes, and structural steel work.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and job tracking systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS welding certifications or related industry certifications.
• Experience managing custom fabrication or structural steel projects.
• Knowledge of estimating, bidding, and project costing.
• OSHA safety training or certification.
• Forklift, rigging, or equipment operation experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform inspections throughout the facility.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around welding equipment, overhead cranes, and industrial machinery.
