Fiber Optic Assembly Technician
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

We are seeking a detail-oriented Fiber Optic Assembly Technician to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will assemble and inspect advanced fiber optic components and cable assemblies used in high-performance applications. The ideal candidate has experience working with delicate optical fibers, excellent manual dexterity, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare optical fibers by stripping, cleaning, cleaving, and organizing fibers for assembly.
- Perform ribbonization and single or mass fusion splicing of fiber optic cables.
- Assemble, terminate, and inspect fiber optic components using microscopes and precision hand tools.
- Measure and document splice quality, fiber identification, and production data.
- Follow work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Support prototype builds, new product development, and continuous process improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in fiber optic assembly, cable assembly, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Experience with fiber stripping, cleaving, ribbonizing, and fusion splicing.
- Comfortable working with microscopes and handling small, delicate components.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mass fusion splicing equipment (Sumitomo, Fujikura, AFL, or similar).
- Familiarity with MPO or other multi-fiber connectors.
- Experience supporting prototype or R&D builds.
- Knowledge of optical testing, inspection, and fiber optic best practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform precision assembly work under a microscope for extended periods.
- Ability to distinguish wire and fiber colors accurately.
- Ability to handle small components with precision.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
