Summary

Assures proper control of parts inventory, related administrative functions, delivers and picks up parts and equipment for the dealership.

Essential Duties

  • Checks in parts daily.
  • Stocks incoming orders daily.
  • Notifies appropriate parties when special-order parts arrive.
  • Assists in preparing for and performing perpetual and annual parts inventory.
  • Assists in parts and core returns.
  • Pulls warranty return parts for scrap or return daily.
  • Picks up and delivers parts and equipment to customers, satellite stores, wholesale accounts, and vendors.
  • Checks with parts manager/supervisor and parts counter people before leaving to coordinate any last-minute pick-ups or deliveries.
  • Keeps an accurate log of daily deliveries and pick-ups. Requests recipient’s signature on each delivery entry.
  • Verifies that invoice matches order for each delivery.
  • Handles basic maintenance of delivery vehicle including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping vehicle clean and making sure required inspections are performed.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Marginal Duties

  • Assists with parts department telephone coverage.
  • Advises parts manager/supervisor if delivery vehicles need maintenance or repairs.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Valid state issued Drivers License
  • Ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Certification

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other organization employees.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

  • Standing and or walking for long periods of time
  • Use of hands to handle, control or feel objects and controls.
  • Repeat bending, twisting, and lifting of objects.
  • Ability to grasp and move objects.
  • Ability to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Work indoors/outdoors while loading and unloading goods in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to bright or dim lighting conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to contaminants, such as fuel, exhaust, and various types of oil.
  • May need to get into cramped positions to reach work spaces.
