Salary: $20-22/hour

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Collections Specialist to manage private pay accounts receivable and support timely account resolution. This role is responsible for reducing outstanding balances through proactive collections efforts, payment plan management, account research, and collaboration with internal teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong collection skills with empathy and professionalism, helping customers resolve account balances while maintaining a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned private pay accounts receivable portfolios across all aging categories.
  • Conduct outbound collection calls and respond to inbound inquiries regarding account balances and payment options.
  • Establish and monitor payment arrangements to support successful account resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and account concerns.
  • Identify responsible parties and update account information as needed.
  • Review and work aged receivables to improve collection performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities and account status.
  • Meet individual and departmental productivity and collection goals.
  • Collaborate with billing, customer service, and other departments to resolve account issues.
  • Utilize billing and accounts receivable software to manage workloads effectively.
  • Participate in ongoing training and compliance activities.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of collections, accounts receivable, billing, or related financial/customer service experience.
  • Strong phone communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare billing, medical collections, or revenue cycle management.
  • Familiarity with accounts receivable software platforms.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
