About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Automation & Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Marietta, Georgia. This is a visible, hands-on role responsible for improving automation, controls, equipment reliability, and overall manufacturing performance.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the complete lifecycle of automated systems, from concept and design through implementation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and long-term support. This position partners closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure manufacturing equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, program, and implement automated manufacturing systems
- Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications
- Support industrial controls, sensors, actuators, servo systems, and motion control technologies
- Analyze equipment performance and implement reliability improvements
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation-related issues
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and uptime
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Assist with equipment repairs and production support as needed
- Work directly on the manufacturing floor to identify and resolve operational challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing processes
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, controls engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, or a related field
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and production equipment
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills
- HMI development and support experience
- Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing environment
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, Controls Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Robotics experience (Fanuc, ABB, Epson, Yamaha, Yushin, or similar)
- Vision systems experience (Cognex or equivalent)
- End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) experience
- Electrical controls design and implementation
- Mechanical system design and implementation
- Pneumatic system design
- SolidWorks or other 3D CAD experience
- Injection molding automation experience

Compensation & Benefits
