Production Machinist

$18–$22/hr. DOE | Full-Time| Youngsville, LA

A local manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production Machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes. Candidates must have machining experience, understand G-code programming, and be able to produce parts according to blueprints and specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related machinery

  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts

  • Determine dimensions, tolerances, machine sequences, and setup requirements

  • Measure and mark materials using required reference points

  • Select and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials

  • Set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut

  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed

  • Inspect completed parts to verify they meet specifications

  • Perform dimensional inspections on in-process parts

  • Troubleshoot machining or assembly issues with production personnel and supervisors

  • Complete routine machine maintenance and report equipment concerns

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least 2 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment or related vocational training

  • Experience operating CNC mills and lathes

  • G-code experience required

  • No conversational programming

  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications

  • Experience setting up and operating machining equipment

  • Ability to use precision measuring tools

  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail

  • Good manual dexterity

  • Safety-conscious and dependable

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the shift

  • Hwacheon

  • Okuma

  • Mori Seiki

  • Puma

Schedule:

  • Hours may vary, typically around 5:00 AM–4:00 PM.
  • Early mornings, overtime, and Saturdays may be required based on production needs.

Pay:

  • Starts at $18–$22 per hour, depending on experience.
