The Crew Member is responsible for supporting ground maintenance and litter abatement operations, including litter collection, edging, and trimming along highways, rights-of-way, and public spaces. This role plays a vital part in ensuring our roadways are clean, safe, and maintained to meet contractual and safety standards.

 

JOB DUTIES • Perform edging, trimming, and sweeping to maintain clean and safe environments • Use handheld and powered equipment, including stick edgers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, and other tools • Safely load and unload equipment from trailers

• Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and traffic control procedures • Identify and report hazards such as debris, sharp objects, needles, or unsafe conditions • Work collaboratively with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently • Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications

 

• Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or maintenance. • Knowledge of safe use and care of hand tools and small power equipment. • Knowledge of basic mechanical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred •

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. • Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job cooperating with others, offering help to others when needed, and considering large organizational goals rather than individual concerns.

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record Preferred skills Ability to work independently, critical thinking, detail oriented, conflict resolution skills, and the ability to use a mobile device or computer.

 

Physical demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to regularly stand, walk, reach, handle equipment, and climb into/out of large pieces of equipment. They will frequently be required to stoop kneel, crouch, and lift up to fifty pounds.

Must have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods of time. Must be able to walk over rough, uneven, or steep terrain. Special vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
