Forklift Driver – Glass Company Job Description

Job Title: Forklift Driver / Material Handler 

Job Summary:
The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely transporting, loading, unloading, and storing glass products and materials throughout the warehouse, production facility, and shipping areas. This position plays a critical role in ensuring glass products are handled carefully to prevent damage while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Load, unload, move, and store glass sheets, crates, racks, and finished products.
• Transport raw materials and finished glass products between production, storage, and shipping areas.
• Inspect loads to ensure products are properly secured and protected from damage.
• Conduct daily pre-shift forklift inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Assist with receiving, shipping, inventory control, and warehouse organization.
• Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and glass-handling protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and shipping documents.
• Ensure racks, pallets, and storage areas are organized and free from hazards.
• Work closely with production, warehouse, and shipping teams to meet customer delivery schedules.
• Assist with packaging and preparing glass products for shipment as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Previous forklift operation experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or glass environment preferred.
• Knowledge of safe material-handling practices.
• Ability to read work orders, shipping documents, and inventory reports.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
• Ability to safely handle fragile and oversized glass products.

Work Environment:
