Responsible for performing multiple industrial manufacturing processes related to the production of technical ceramics and/or metals in accordance with work order specifications. This role requires a strong technical and machining background, including experience with surface grinding and precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. The ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings is essential to ensure product quality and accuracy. Works within a team environment to meet departmental goals while maintaining a clean and organized work area, on a day shift (6:00 am – 2:30 pm) in a fast-paced production environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Operate multiple, complex production equipment and/or a variety of production equipment to manufacture parts in compliance with work order instructions; makes machine adjustments and contact the appropriate person when needed
Inspect parts to determine if product meets quality/ customer specifications; takes appropriate action concerning parts that are not to customer/quality standards and recommends solutions to appropriate person
Transfer parts to next process via computer software
Load, unload and stack product; transports product via hand-truck, forklift, crane, or hoist
Clean work area, machines, tools and equipment
Train incoming operators on processes and procedures
Wears required personal protective equipment at all times in areas where mandatory
Job Requirements:
Shift
Day Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not necessary
Experience:
Minimum of 1–3 years of machining or manufacturing experience, preferably in a technical or precision production environment
Hands-on experience operating surface grinders or similar machining equipment strongly preferred
Experience in GD&T, reading and interpreting engineering prints, blueprints, and technical drawings
Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Experience working to tight tolerances and quality specifications in a production setting
Ability to perform setups, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting on machining equipment
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understand and act on verbal and/or written instructions
Read/interpret standard and metric measurements
Intermediate math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Deep knowledge of handheld measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, drop gauges, and advanced measuring equipment such as SmartScope or CMM
Use Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to read and understand the relationship between complex blueprints and parts
Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening skills
Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
