Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Our client is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team. This is more than a traditional CFO role, it is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing HIV and STI treatment services, substance abuse programs, housing assistance, and other critical community support services.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who embraces the organization's mission and culture. In addition to overseeing financial operations, this individual will actively participate in grant management, funding initiatives, compliance efforts, and organizational strategy to ensure the continued growth and success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting and financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, cash management, procurement, and budgeting
• Lead grant fiscal management, reporting, compliance, and funding oversight
• Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors
• Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial strategies
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and all applicable state and federal regulations
• Coordinate annual financial audits, grant audits, and internal audit activities
• Establish and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and overall financial performance
• Supervise accounting staff and contracted accounting services
• Oversee patient billing operations, third-party reimbursements, Medicaid/Medicare billing, and collections processes
• Review and negotiate vendor, payer, and finance-related contracts
• Provide financial guidance and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA preferred
• CPA highly preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit accounting experience required
• Strong experience with fund accounting, grant management, compliance, and reporting
• Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and executive-level financial reports
• Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Experience in healthcare, community health, nonprofit healthcare, or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) strongly preferred
• Experience with Sage Accounting and Paylocity is a plus; similar systems experience will be considered
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse populations

Schedule:

• Full-Time; 40 Hrs. 
• Direct Hire

Pay:

• $90,000 - $130,000 Annually
• Based on experience and qualifications
