Pest Control Technician

Job Summary

The Pest Control Technician is responsible for inspecting properties, identifying pest infestations, and applying effective treatments to eliminate and prevent pests. This role involves working in residential, commercial, and industrial settings while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect properties to identify pest problems, including insects, rodents, and other unwanted organisms
• Determine appropriate treatment plans based on pest type and severity of infestation
• Apply pesticides, insecticides, rodenticides, and other treatments safely and effectively
• Set traps, seal entry points, and recommend preventative measures
• Communicate findings, treatment plans, and recommendations clearly to customers
• Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation
• Ensure all work complies with company policies and local/state regulations
• Safely handle, store, and transport chemicals and equipment
• Provide excellent customer service and address client concerns
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools, vehicles, and equipment

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• State certification or license in pest control (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Basic knowledge of pest biology and control methods (preferred)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, outdoors, or at heights
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals, with proper safety precautions

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a variety of environments including homes, businesses, and outdoor areas
• Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and overtime depending on service needs
• Exposure to varying weather conditions
