Tool Maker

Located in Racine, WI

Salary: $28-35.00/hr

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and gauges
• Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications
• Set up and operate manual machining equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses
• Troubleshoot tooling and equipment issues to minimize downtime
• Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges
• Modify tooling as needed to improve production efficiency and product quality
• Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling and related equipment
• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams
• Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards
• Maintain clean and organized work area

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Technical degree or apprenticeship in Tool & Die, Machining, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of tool making or tool & die experience preferred
• Strong understanding of machining practices and metalworking processes
• Ability to read blueprints and work with tight tolerances
• Experience with manual machines required; CNC experience is a plus
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods

Preferred Skills

• Welding and fabrication experience
• CAD/CAM knowledge
• Experience in stamping, injection molding, or precision manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices

Work Environment

• Manufacturing or machine shop environment
• Exposure to machinery, noise, oils, and metal materials
• Use of required PPE including safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hearing protection
