About the Role

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled PLC Mechanic for a manufacturing facility in Plainview, TX. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and supporting PLC-controlled automated equipment and associated electrical/mechanical systems to ensure maximum production uptime and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial automation systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-controlled equipment including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Omron systems
  • Read and interpret PLC ladder logic, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs
  • Install, modify, test, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and control panels
  • Respond quickly to production downtime events and identify root causes
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated systems
  • Support equipment startups, shutdowns, and changeovers
  • Assist with automation upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Collaborate with production teams, supervisors, and engineers to improve equipment reliability

Qualifications Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical certificate or Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Automation, Electronics, or related field preferred
  • 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience with PLC systems required

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of PLC hardware/software
  • Experience with ladder logic, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical controls and automated equipment
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Familiarity with industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, or Profibus preferred

  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and around moving machinery
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call when needed

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/industrial plant setting
  • Exposure to noise, dust, temperature changes, and electrical hazards
  • PPE required

Preferred Certifications

  • Industrial Electrician License
  • PLC Programming Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • NCCER Industrial Maintenance Credentials
