Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Rock Haul Truck Driver to join our team a leading provider of commercial and residential building services. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting materials, such as gravel, sand, and other construction aggregates, to and from construction sites. The driver will be expected to operate heavy-duty dump trucks and maintain a high level of safety and efficiency in their work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy-duty trucks, including dump trucks and other specialized vehicles, to transport rock, gravel, sand, and other construction materials.
- Safely load and unload materials from construction sites, ensuring proper distribution and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety protocols to ensure the safe transportation of materials.
- Inspect truck before and after each shift to ensure it is in proper working order, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the Fleet Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, deliveries, and any issues that arise during transport.
- Communicate effectively with construction site foremen, supervisors, and other team members regarding delivery schedules and material needs.
- Ensure all safety equipment and vehicles are in proper working order and adhere to local and state regulations.
- Assist with site preparation, including the placement of materials, when needed.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, including weight limits, safety protocols, and hazardous material transportation rules.
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably in construction or material hauling.
- Strong knowledge of local roads, construction sites, and delivery routes.
- Ability to operate dump trucks, flatbeds, and other heavy machinery safely.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Good physical condition and the ability to work in all weather conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with GPS systems and route planning software.
- Previous experience working with construction materials.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to address minor issues or perform truck maintenance tasks.
