They are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, and commercialization of advanced precision electromechanical products from concept through mass production.
Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead the mechanical design and development of precision assemblies and camera module systems within a fast-paced product development environment.
This role requires strong expertise in 3D CAD design, BOM management, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes within automotive or consumer product industries. The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource and mentor while collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of advanced precision assemblies and camera modules.
- Design injection molded components, sheet metal parts, PCB-integrated assemblies, and related mechanical systems.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and develop detailed GD&T drawings for manufacturing and inspection.
- Serve as a technical lead and mentor for GD&T best practices and mechanical design standards.
- Define product specifications, manufacturing requirements, and validation plans.
- Collaborate with FEA engineers to evaluate and optimize designs.
- Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and transition into mass production.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support product development and production readiness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering.
- Travel as required to support suppliers, manufacturing partners, and development activities.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience within automotive or consumer products industries.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with 3D CAD software:
- Fusion 360 preferred
- SolidWorks acceptable
- Strong experience with BOM creation and BOM management processes.
- Deep knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), including the ability to act as a technical lead and mentor.
- Strong experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis and preparing detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Experience developing products from concept through mass production.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required.
Bonus Assets
- Experience with DFMEA methodologies.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 and/or IATF16949 quality systems.
- Experience supporting mass production of camera module assemblies.
- Knowledge of optics and CMOS image sensors.
- Experience with MEMS packaging and enclosure design.
- Experience working with compact camera modules and related assembly or test equipment.

- Salary range up to $110,000 CAD annually.
