About the Role We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join an established accounting firm in Hurst. This is a key position responsible for the accurate preparation and filing of tax returns for a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals and small-to-medium-sized businesses.
The ideal candidate stays ahead of evolving tax laws and is passionate about providing strategic, high-quality service to help our clients maintain compliance and maximize their financial health.
Tax Preparation: Accurately prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals (1040), S-Corps (1120-S), C-Corps (1120), and Partnerships (1065).
Client Consultation: Review financial records, income statements, and documentation to identify potential tax credits and liabilities.
Compliance & Research: Stay current on federal and state tax regulations and perform technical research on complex tax issues to ensure full compliance.
Review & Audit: Conduct thorough self-reviews of returns for accuracy and completeness before final submission.
Strategic Planning: Assist clients with year-end tax planning and projections to minimize future tax liabilities.
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional tax preparation experience within a CPA firm or public accounting environment.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of current tax codes and a proven track record of handling complex individual and business returns.
Software Proficiency: Experience with professional tax software (such as Lacerte, ProConnect, Drake, or UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel.
Credentials: EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA candidate preferred, but not required for a highly experienced preparer.
Communication: Ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients in a clear, professional, and approachable manner.
