Schedule: Part-time (Monday–Friday) with opportunity to move to full-time
Summary
This is a precision manufacturing role requiring experience in optical polishing, lapping, grinding, or precision machining (or similar high-tolerance manufacturing).
Candidates must be comfortable working to tight tolerances and handling delicate, high-value components.
This is not a general assembly position. Candidates should have experience working with precision components and tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
•
Grinding and polishing of precision optical components
•
Cleaning and visual inspection (microscope use preferred)
•
Operation of production equipment (surface grinders, polishers, milling machines, etc.)
•
Handling and processing of fragile optical components
•
Following detailed work instructions in an ISO 9001 environment
•
Maintaining equipment, workspace, and production supplies
Relevant Experience
•
Optical polishing, lapping, or grinding
•
Precision machining (tight tolerances)
•
Experience with inspection tools (microscopes, comparators, optical inspection)
Core Skills
•
Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
•
High attention to detail
•
Ability to follow detailed technical instructions independently
•
Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
•
Comfortable working in a production/manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
•
Experience in precision optics manufacturing
•
Familiarity with interferometry, metrology, or optical test methods
•
Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment
•
2-4 years experience in precision manufacturing or optics
Physical Requirements
•
Ability to stand for extended periods
•
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Additional Requirements
•
Must be a “US Person” as defined by ITAR regulations
