Fulltime Hourly Position; $22.00 - $26.00
Position Summary
The Fabrication Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and restoring fabricated metal products, equipment, and assemblies that align with customer expectations. This role combines hands-on fabrication/weld technical expertise with strong communication and organizational skills to ensure repairs meet customer cost and quality expectations. This fast-paced position must align daily with the build schedule, customer and team interaction to ensure customer expectations are achieved as defined.
Key Responsibilities
1. Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
2. Proficiently perform weld repairs (MIG, TIG, Stick)
3. Willingness to work at/on customer jobsites
4. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols
5. Assure accurate reporting of labor and material to each customer work order
6. Attain high quality levels of production.
7. Provide estimates for repair time, materials, and cost (if applicable)
8. Evaluate customer projects and clearly explain solutions to them
9. Ability to think out of the box
10. Fixes issues right the first time, not just fast
11. Communicate delays, issues, or changes proactively
12. Ensure customer satisfaction through quality workmanship and responsiveness
13. Align to all company policies and procedures
Quality & Safety
1. Effectively assess projects ensuring work can be done safely prior to performing the work
2. Ensure repairs meet customer quality expectation
3. Participate in root cause analysis for recurring defects or failures
4. Support continuous improvement initiatives
5. Forklift and overhead crane experience
Qualifications
Required
1. High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
2. 2–5+ years of fabrication and weld repair experience
3. Proficiency in one or more welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick)
4. Valid Driver’s License
5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
6. Knowledge of weld defects and repair techniques
7. Strong attention to detail and quality
8. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
9. Good communication skills and ability to interact with customers professionally
10. Strong willingness to learn
Preferred
1. Experience in a customer-facing or service-related role
2. Familiarity with lean manufacturing or repair process improvement
3. Familiarity with farm equipment
4. Creative Thinker
5. Experience with, Shear, Press Brake, Punch, Iron Worker, Drill Press
6. Experience with heavy fabrication, structural steel, or equipment manufacturing
7. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement
