Position Overview
The Thin Film Process Technician will support thin-film coating processes and equipment both remotely and on-site at customer locations. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, optimizing system performance, and ensuring customers maximize the efficiency of their equipment.
This position involves regular travel across North America, with occasional opportunities in Canada, Mexico, and South America.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, support, and troubleshoot thin-film coating systems (including box coaters and sputter systems)
- Diagnose and resolve process and equipment issues both remotely and on-site
- Evaluate customer operations and recommend improvements for performance and efficiency
- Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and best practices
- Assist with process development and optimization efforts
- Deliver high-quality, professional customer support
- Travel approximately 30–50% (typically short trips under two weeks)

Qualifications
- Background in engineering, physics, or a related technical field (mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc.)
- Experience with thin-film deposition (PVD, sputtering, evaporation) preferred
- Familiarity with vacuum systems and coating equipment strongly desired
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in customer-facing environments
- Adaptable and able to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
- Strong communication skills with a customer-first mindset
- Willingness to travel on short notice
