General Production - Lactose Operator

Located in Crescent City, CA

Salary: $20.00

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lactose Operator to join our production team in Crescent City. This hands-on role is responsible for operating and monitoring equipment used in the lactose manufacturing process while ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor lactose production equipment including dryers, evaporators, crystallizers, decanters, and bagging systems
• Track and adjust flow rates, pressure, temperature, and other process parameters
• Perform routine sanitation and cleaning of equipment in compliance with GMP and HACCP standards
• Troubleshoot operational issues and report or resolve minor mechanical concerns
• Accurately record production data and maintain logs
• Conduct in-process testing for moisture, particle size, and product quality
• Maintain proper inventory of materials and cleaning chemicals
• Follow all safety procedures and report food safety or quality concerns immediately
• Assist with training new team members as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 2–3 years of food manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to obtain HTST Operator certification within 9 months of hire

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 55 lbs regularly
• Ability to move heavier materials (up to 550 lbs) using appropriate equipment
• Comfortable working in environments with heat, humidity, noise, and machinery

Work Environment

• Industrial food production setting with exposure to moving equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures
• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection
