Production Planner
Position Summary:
The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating and optimizing manufacturing schedules to ensure efficient production, on-time delivery, and optimal inventory levels. This role works closely with operations, procurement, supply chain, and warehouse teams to align production plans with customer demand, material availability, and capacity constraints.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts and customer orders
Coordinate with purchasing and supply chain teams to ensure raw materials and components are available for production
Monitor production capacity, machine availability, and labor resources to optimize scheduling efficiency
Track work orders and production progress to ensure deadlines are met
Adjust schedules as needed due to material shortages, equipment issues, or demand changes
Collaborate with operations, warehouse, and quality teams to ensure smooth production flow
Maintain accurate production data in ERP/MRP systems
Analyze production performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
Support inventory control efforts by balancing production output with inventory levels
Communicate production priorities and schedule updates to manufacturing teams
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain planning
Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, etc.)
Advanced Excel skills for scheduling, forecasting, and data analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and coordination skills
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred
Preferred Skills:
Experience with capacity planning and demand forecasting
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
APICS / CPIM certification is a plus
Knowledge of inventory management and material planning
