Position Summary

A clerk assists with receiving, processing, maintaining, and preparing flowers and floral supplies for wholesale customers. The position supports daily operations by ensuring flowers remain fresh, inventory is organized, and work areas stay clean and efficient.

Primary Job Duties

1. Flower Processing & Care

Receive incoming shipments of fresh flowers and plants
Trim stems and properly hydrate flowers in water
Label and prepare flowers for storage or sale
Place flowers in refrigeration or designated storage areas
Rotate stock to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage
Remove damaged or wilted flowers from inventory
Wash and sanitize flower buckets and containers

These tasks ensure flowers remain fresh and ready for wholesale distribution.

2. Inventory & Stock Management

Assist with receiving and unloading shipments
Check inventory counts and restock floral products
Rotate product according to freshness and storage guidelines
Organize floral supplies, tools, and containers
Track product movement and help maintain inventory accuracy

Proper inventory handling keeps products fresh and available for customers.

3. Customer Support (Wholesale Clients)

Assist florists or business customers picking up orders
Provide information about flower varieties and availability
Answer phones and assist with basic order questions
Help locate supplies and floral materials for customers
Prepare orders for pickup or delivery

Clerks often interact with florists, event planners, and retail flower shops purchasing wholesale products.

4. Workspace Maintenance

Sweep floors and clean work areas
Remove flower debris and waste
Clean coolers and storage areas
Maintain sanitation standards for floral processing
Organize tools, buckets, and processing equipment

A clean environment helps prevent contamination and preserves product quality.

5. Order Preparation

Prepare flowers for customer orders
Package and bundle flowers safely
Pull orders from inventory for delivery routes
Ensure orders are labeled correctly

Clerks often assist warehouse staff and delivery drivers.

Physical Requirements

Clerks must be able to:

Stand for long periods
Work in refrigerated flower coolers
Lift buckets, boxes, or floral supplies
Perform repetitive tasks such as trimming stems
