Entry Level Harness Engineering Build Technician

Pay: $17/hr. 
Schedule: Full-time - First Shift
Location: On-site manufacturing environment

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Harness Engineering Build Technician to support the development and assembly of prototype harnesses and formboards. This role is responsible for building and testing harness assemblies from engineering prints, validating design accuracy, troubleshooting issues, and preparing harness builds for production.

This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build prototype harnesses according to engineering prints and specifications.

  • Assemble and test harnesses and formboards using technical instructions and standard procedures.

  • Verify harness builds meet design requirements before release to production.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and retest harness assemblies when issues are identified.

  • Conduct testing to confirm data accuracy and product functionality.

  • Support production teams by answering technical questions and resolving build issues.

  • Document discrepancies and request updates when engineering data needs correction.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S workplace standards.

  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and manufacturing best practices.

  • Provide internal support to production teams and engineering staff as needed.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve processes and product quality.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous manufacturing or production assembly experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical prints, wiring diagrams, and specifications.

  • Ability to identify wire colors and follow detailed assembly instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office experience is helpful.

  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with wiring harnesses or electrical assemblies.

  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing setting.

  • Knowledge of electronics assembly or testing procedures.


Work Environment

  • Indoor manufacturing environment with controlled temperatures.

  • Moderate to high noise levels due to machinery, tools, and equipment.

  • Fast-paced team-oriented production environment.

  • Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.


Safety Requirements

  • Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Report safety hazards, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Participate in safety training and meetings.

  • Safely operate tools and equipment including soldering irons, heat guns, and power tools.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Frequent use of hands for assembling, handling, and operating tools.

  • Ability to distinguish color variations in wiring.

  • Close vision and focus required for detailed assembly work.
