Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plastic Extrusion Machine Operator with fabrication experience to join our production team. This role will set up, operate, and maintain plastic extrusion equipment while performing fabrication tasks to support custom manufacturing needs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on extrusion experience, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Extrusion Operation

• Set up, operate, and monitor plastic extrusion machines.
• Adjust machine controls to maintain product quality and specifications.
• Perform machine changeovers, tooling adjustments, and line cleanouts.
• Inspect finished products for accuracy, consistency, and quality.

Fabrication Work

• Perform fabrication tasks including cutting, drilling, assembly, and finishing.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and production drawings.
• Use fabrication equipment such as saws, grinders, drills, and hand tools.
• Assist in developing jigs, fixtures, and basic production tooling.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on extrusion lines.
• Identify equipment issues and collaborate with maintenance for repairs.
• Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventative upkeep.

Daily Duties

• Follow all safety procedures including PPE and LOTO.
• Maintain accurate production logs and documentation.
• Keep work areas organized using 5S standards.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team leads.
• Safely lift and maneuver materials up to 50 lbs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across production.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of plastic extrusion experience required.
• Fabrication experience required (hand tools, bench tools, basic machining a plus).
• Ability to read technical drawings and production specs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
