Salary: $22.00 - $30.00 DOE

Express is actively recruiting for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant who has at least 3 years experience of working in a busy law firm. 

Responsibilities include:
•    Manage caseload of several attorneys
•    Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects
•    Draft, proofread, edit, revise, and redline legal documents such as estate planning documents, contracts, agreements, pleadings and motions with a high degree of accuracy and promptness
•    Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, etc. and provide written analysis to attorneys.
•    E-file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures. 
•    Assist litigation attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings, interviewing clients and witnesses, and prepare summaries.
•    Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files; maintain organized and detailed records of the files 
•    Enter time record details regarding billable hours spent on specific matters.
•    Assist existing clients with opening new matters
•    Communicate with clients to gather all relevant information and keep them informed
•    Nurture internal and external relationships with co-workers, attorneys, clients, agents, clerks, and vendors
•    Other duties as assigned by the supervising attorney or Firm Administrator

Required Skills: 
•    Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, Adobe, DocuSign, and Amicus Attorney
•    Understand legal language and principles, research methods, court rules and processes, and know when to ask questions 
•    Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
•    Attention to detail
•    Ability to work independently, take initiative, and complete tasks with minimal oversight
•    Able to excel in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:     
•    3+ years' experience as a paralegal
•    Paralegal certification
•    Bachelor's degree with academic excellence

PRIMARY DUTIES:
•    Filing / File Management
•    Assist litigation Paralegals with trial preparation, such as case preparation, organizing evidence, drafting legal documents, and maintaining document databases 
•    Coordinate with the Paralegal Trainer in managing case calendars and deadlines
•    Draft routine legal documents, including discovery disclosure and motions
•    Manage the administrative aspects of litigation cases including organizing files, scheduling appointments, and preparing case materials, which are vital to the smooth operation of legal proceedings
•    Legal Research
•    Recording of billable and nonbillable time in Amicus.
•    Maintain case files and documents in an organized manner
•    Client Relations

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: 
•    Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, Adobe, DocuSign, and Amicus Attorney
•    Desire to learn and understand legal principles, including research methods, court rules, and processes
•    Curiosity and willingness to ask questions 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
•    Ability to take direction, follow instructions, and prioritize tasks 
•    Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
•    Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
