PLC EXPERIENCE AND TROUBLE SHOOTING IS A MUST!

Position Overview

Fairfield Client experienced Maintenance Technician to perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on blow molding machinery, auxiliary systems, and general plant equipment. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to support production through equipment setup, repair, and continuous improvement activities.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills who can minimize downtime and ensure efficient, safe equipment performance.


Key Responsibilities

Preventative & Reactive Maintenance

  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) per established schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Respond to equipment failures on production lines, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and structural issues.
  • Perform machine tear-downs, rebuilds, retrofits, and fabrication tasks as needed.

Equipment Expertise

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on:
    • Blow molding machinery
    • Leak detectors
    • Bottle elevators
    • Tabletop conveyors
    • Palletizers
    • Box erectors and inserters
    • Case packers
    • Stretch wrappers
  • Conduct mold changes and complete machine setups for efficient production startups.
  • Work with PLCs, VFDs, and electric motors for troubleshooting and adjustments.

Technical Skills

  • Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical circuits, PLC logic issues, hydraulic circuits, and pneumatic systems.
  • Maintain and repair pumps, refrigeration systems, fluid handling equipment, and other mechanical systems.
  • Rework or modify circuits or mechanical components to improve equipment function.

Operational & Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with operators and production teams to achieve daily production goals.
  • Provide coaching on basic equipment adjustments and maintenance best practices.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance reports, logs, and documentation.
  • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and special projects.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and outside vendors.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all plant safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Proven competency in:
    • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
    • PLC troubleshooting
    • Preventative and predictive maintenance
    • DMAIC / analytical problem solving
  • Blow molding experience preferred.
  • Ability to supply basic electrical testing equipment and general mechanical tools.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Computer literacy (SAP/Microsoft Office or similar).
