Job Title: Grinder Cell Operator and Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Position Overview: The Grinder Cell Operator and Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the grinder cell operation, ensuring efficient material and regrind lot control, and managing the operating schedule and resource allocation. This role also includes maintaining the facility's infrastructure, such as compressors, compressed air dryers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, lighting, and dock doors. The position will also play a key role in inventory management and team leadership of material handlers across multiple shifts.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Grinder Cell Operation:
- Manage regrind lot control, material control, and the operating schedule.
- Ensure efficient resource allocation and maintenance within the grinder cell.
- Facilities Maintenance:
- Oversee maintenance of the building, including compressors, compressed air dryers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, lighting, and dock doors.
- Inventory Management:
- Plan and execute cycle counts for Finished Goods, Raw Materials, Packaging, and MRO (Storeroom) based on system schedules and discrepancies.
- Report daily cycle count results and manage SAP for material standards and bills of materials.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies with the Plant Schedulers and Plant Buyer.
- Synchronize tickets with finished goods in MII/SAP, including reprints and voids.
- Review and reconcile MF47 shortages and I-Docs in the SAP system.
- Manage scrap tickets and coordinate the sale of scrap materials, including order entry, pricing, inventory, and shipping.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of 4 Material Handlers, providing guidance and support for 24/7 operations across all shifts.
- Sub-contractor Management:
- Maintain scheduling and coordinate component transfers.
- Conduct cycle counts for Finished Goods and Component Inventories.
- Forklift Operation:
- Operate a forklift as needed to support material handling and plant operations.
- Backup Duties:
- Provide backup support for Plant Schedulers and Plant Buyer.
- Training and Compliance:
- Utilize training programs to enhance technical skills and cross-train in other material coordinator functions such as cycle counting, resin receiving, customer service, and coordinating shipping logistics.
- Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and established safety rules, and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience:
- 3 years of experience in Facilities Maintenance and Contractor Work.
- Validated experience with grinder, conveyors, dust collectors, compressed air systems, chiller, cooling tower, and HVAC operation and maintenance.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, SAP, Email, Ariba, and FMS.
- LOTO and Arc Flash Trained and Certified.
- Certified forklift operator.
- Competencies:
- Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, organize processes, and measure work outcomes.
- Solid understanding of material handling, scheduling, and inventory control systems.
Relationships:
- External: Collaborate with drivers and customers.
- Internal: Work closely with the shift supervisor, warehouse lead, planning, and production teams at the Fort Worth Plant.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Physical Requirements:
- Normal vision and hearing, with good hand/finger dexterity.
- Ability to sit, walk, push/pull, and lift items under 50 pounds.
- Certified to operate a forklift as required.
- Work Environment:
Warehouse environment with occasional driving of a forklift.
