Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Meat Clerk to join our grocery retail team in Sisters, Oregon. The Meat Clerk is responsible for handling, preparing, and merchandising various meat products while ensuring exceptional customer service and adherence to food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming meat products, ensuring freshness and quality standards are met
  • Prepare and package meat items—cutting, trimming, grinding, and wrapping—according to customer requests and store specifications
  • Maintain an attractive and well-stocked meat display case, rotating stock and ensuring proper labeling and pricing
  • Assist customers with meat selections, providing product information, cooking instructions, and recommendations
  • Adhere to strict food safety guidelines, maintaining cleanliness and proper handling procedures
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the meat department manager to ensure adequate stock
  • Operate and maintain meat department equipment such as slicers, grinders, and wrapping machines
  • Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the meat department and surrounding areas

Qualifications and Skills

  • Prior experience in a grocery retail meat department or related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of meat handling, preparation techniques, and food safety regulations
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and ability to lift heavy items
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and closing shifts
