Express is searching for a Senior Accountant for a local non-profit. This will be a tempoary 3 month project. Individuals will be a key member of the Finance Department, responsible for executing a broad range of financial functions, including accounting operations, accounts payable, payroll, and financial statement preparation. This role ensures compliance with financial regulations and internal policies while maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
Primary responsibilities include preparing compliance reports, recording general ledger entries, managing fixed asset accounting, reconciling accounts, conducting budget versus actual analyses, maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, and leading or assisting with financial projects.
Serve as a key technical resource to the Accounting Manager and Finance Team in the execution of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.
Perform and review bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
Maintain and update lease and debt schedules and related workpapers in accordance with GAAP, including monitoring amortization schedules and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Provide expertise and assistance in accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, records management, and period-end processes.
Partner with the Accounting Manager and CFO to support development of the annual operating budget and financial forecasts by preparing supporting schedules, variance analyses, and historical trend reporting.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and internal control policies to support accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance, including grant-funded programs where applicable.
Support onboarding, training, and cross-training of Finance staff to promote operational continuity and strengthen internal financial competencies.
Assist the Controller in developing, documenting, and maintaining finance department policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability of accounting operations.
Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience in a similar role; experience with fund and grant accounting preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple complex financial assignments efficiently.
Valid Oregon driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
