Diesel Mechanic

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work with engines, hydraulics, motors, and pumps in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, trucks, and heavy equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues

• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire mounting

• Repair and maintain brakes, transmissions, steering systems, and suspensions

• Work on hydraulic systems, motors, and pumps

• Read and understand work orders, technical manuals, and schematics

• Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections

• Replace worn or damaged parts and components

• Use diagnostic tools and hand tools to complete repairs

• Maintain accurate service records and repair logs

• Ensure all repairs meet safety and company standards

• Lift heavy parts and equipment (75+ lbs) as needed

• Keep work area clean and organized

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems

• Ability to read and understand technical instructions

• Experience with tire mounting and equipment repair

• Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform physical labor

• Familiarity with diagnostic equipment and repair tools

• Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge

• Strong attention to detail and safety procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL license (preferred but not required)

• ASE Certification (a plus)

• Experience with fleet maintenance or heavy-duty trucks

• Welding or fabrication experience (a plus)

Work Environment:

• Shop and outdoor work environments

• Exposure to noise, grease, and heavy machinery

• Standing, bending, lifting, and working in tight spaces for extended periods
