Electrical Technician – Express Pros–Akron

Location: Akron, OH
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift (Overtime as needed)

About the Role

Express Pros–Akron is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, and equipment according to established standards. This role provides exposure to both standard and custom machinery and plays a vital part in ensuring proper electrical configuration and safe operation.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the area manager, you will:

Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand and power tools
Connect power supply wires to machines/equipment and run cables and inter-machine wiring
Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment, identifying root causes and performing necessary repairs
Replace faulty electrical components, including relays, switches, motors, and sensing devices
Inspect electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, or required adjustments
Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors as needed
Test electrical systems and circuit continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and similar devices
Maintain a clean and organized work area and return tools at the end of each shift
Assist other departments when needed

Competence in electrical/electronic repair and related job skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and verbal/written instructions
Adherence to PPE and safety requirements
Strong self‑motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision

Willingness to learn new skills and apply continuous improvement
Reliability and consistent attendance
Collaboration and teamwork

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Education & Experience

Technical degree or certification preferred but not required
Six months of related experience, or a combination of education and applicable experience

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires:

Standing, walking, using hands to handle and work with components
Reaching with hands and arms
Occasional climbing, balancing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
Lifting/moving up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally
Clear close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Work Environment

While performing job duties, the employee is:

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
Exposed to electrical shock risks
Working in a moderately noisy environment
