Bright Wood - now part of Andersen Corporation— a leading North American manufacturer in the wood products and lumber remanufacturing industry, is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead the company’s accounting, cost management, and financial reporting functions for a large, complex, multi-site manufacturing operation.
This role is a key member of the senior finance leadership team and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, optimizing manufacturing cost structures, and supporting strategic decision-making during an exciting period of integration and growth.
What You Get to Do!
Financial Leadership & Governance
• Serve as the senior accounting leader for the organization, overseeing all accounting, cost accounting, and inventory functions.
• Ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Andersen corporate standards.
• Maintain strong internal controls and corporate governance requirements.
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, internal audit, and corporate finance partners.
Manufacturing Cost Accounting & Inventory
• Provide executive oversight of manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation across multiple facilities.
• Lead cost of sales analysis, margin reporting, and product line profitability reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement in cost systems, inventory accuracy, and perpetual inventory processes.
• Partner with operations leadership to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and costing organization, including direct and indirect reports.
• Set clear performance expectations, support professional development, and ensure succession planning within the finance team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Strategic & Business Partnership
• Provide financial insight and analysis to executive leadership to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, and operational decisions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
• Lead and support ad hoc financial analysis, integration efforts, and special projects related to growth, systems, or organizational change.
• Collaborate closely with Andersen corporate finance teams to align reporting, systems, and best practices.
What You Will Bring…
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred (CMA a plus).
• Minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in manufacturing.
• Prior experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a mid-to-large manufacturing environment (multi-site preferred).
• Deep expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
• Experience with ERP systems and large, complex data environments.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams, influence senior leaders, and communicate complex financial information clearly.
• High ethical standards, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
