Service and Installation Technician

Location: MN / IA / WI Territory
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $30–$35 per hour DOE

Position Summary

They are seeking a skilled Service & Installation Technician to join their service team. This hands-on field-based role will focus on assembling, installing, and commissioning complex custom CNC machines and related equipment at customer facilities throughout Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. The ideal candidate is mechanically and electrically proficient, safety-minded, customer-focused, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • On-site Installation & Commissioning
    Assemble, install, align, and commission CNC machines and automation solutions at customer facilities according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Diagnostics
    Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues; perform adjustments, testing, calibration, and final validation before machine turnover.
  • Customer Interaction & Training
    Provide clear communication with clients regarding installation progress, machine operation basics, safety features, and first-level troubleshooting.
  • Support Warranty & After-Sales Service
    Perform follow-up service calls, warranty support work, and preventive maintenance at customer sites.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    Complete service reports, installation checklists, and parts/equipment records in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Balanced Mechanical & Electrical Skills
    Demonstrated experience working with mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, drives, PLCs, servos, and sensor systems.
  • CNC & Automation Experience
    Prior exposure to CNC machines, robotics, or automated manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Problem-Solving Ability
    Able to diagnose issues, think critically, and manage solutions in dynamic on-site environments.
  • Self-Starter & Team Player
    Comfortable working independently in the field and collaborating with internal sales, service, and engineering teams.
  • Physical Requirements
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and bend, twist etc..
