Industrial Sewer / Sewing Technician – Awning Manufacturing

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sewer (Sewing Technician) to join our awning manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial sewing machines and working with heavy-duty fabrics such as canvas, vinyl, and other outdoor materials. This role is critical in producing high-quality custom awnings, canopies, and related products.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate industrial sewing machines to construct awnings, canopies, and related fabric products
• Read and interpret patterns, templates, and work orders
• Measure, cut, and assemble fabric components according to specifications
• Sew seams, hems, reinforcements, and attachments with precision and consistency
• Install grommets, webbing, zippers, or straps as required
• Inspect finished products for quality, durability, and accuracy
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Perform basic machine maintenance and report any mechanical issues
• Work collaboratively with production staff to meet deadlines

Qualifications

• Previous experience in industrial sewing, upholstery, or similar fabrication preferred
• Ability to work with heavy-duty fabrics such as canvas, vinyl, or acrylic materials
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Ability to read measurements and follow written and verbal instructions
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and handling large fabric pieces
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25–40 lbs occasionally
• Frequent standing, bending, and reaching
• Manual dexterity for detailed sewing work

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience in awning, marine, or upholstery sewing
• Familiarity with patterns and fabrication drawings
• Basic knowledge of industrial sewing machine maintenance

• Fast-paced manufacturing setting
• Temperature may vary depending on season
• Safety gear required as applicable
