Perennial Associate – Nursery / Plant Department
 Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Perennial Associate to support their Nursery/Plant Department. This role blends horticultural expertise, customer service, and hands-on outdoor work to ensure customers receive healthy plants and expert guidance while supporting daily branch operations.

Location: Lexington, MA
Pay: Starting at $22/hour+

Key Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting perennials based on sun exposure, soil type, landscape goals, and maintenance needs

• Provide recommendations on plant care, watering, fertilization, and disease prevention

• Water, prune, deadhead, fertilize, and maintain perennial stock

• Monitor for pests, disease, or plant damage and escalate issues as needed

• Receive, sort, tag, rotate, and stage plant deliveries

• Maintain signage, pricing, merchandising standards, and organized inventory

• Load customer vehicles and assist with order fulfillment

• Move, replenish, and stage plant material throughout the day

• Maintain clean, safe nursery walkways and work areas

• Operate carts, dollies, forklifts, or yard equipment (where certified)

• Support inside sales and counter staff with nursery expertise

Qualifications

• Horticultural knowledge especially with perennials

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather

• Reliable, team-oriented, and safety-focused

• Green industry experience 

• Forklift or yard equipment experience a plus
