Position Summary

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, patients, staff, and visitors. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention, safety, and overall guest experience by ensuring assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to established standards and schedules.
The Housekeeper reports directly to the Director of Facilities (or designee).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize assigned areas including resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways, dining areas, and common spaces
• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal
• Disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with facility and infection control standards
• Replenish supplies (paper products, soap, hand sanitizer, etc.) as needed
• Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to supervision
• Follow established cleaning schedules, checklists, and documentation requirements
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and storage areas
• Adhere to all facility policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards
• Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, patients, staff, and visitors
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs, staffing levels, and facility demand

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred (but not required)
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to 30 lbs as needed
• Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the shift

Work Environment

• Healthcare, residential, or recovery-based setting
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment (training and PPE provided)

• Must follow all safety, infection control, and facility-specific policies
• Must maintain professional conduct and appearance while on duty
