Laboratory Support Staff work in a fast-paced environment to assist research and development activities. After training, responsibilities include managing laboratory inventory, maintaining equipment and workspace cleanliness, and performing basic molecular and microbiological procedures (e.g., nucleic acid extraction, serial dilutions, PCR) while accurately documenting work in electronic lab notebooks. The role requires proper use of PPE, adherence to safety and containment practices for potentially pathogenic organisms and patient samples, and compliance with all SOPs, protocols, and quality system requirements. Work is performed under direct supervision and requires strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.

 

Primary Duties

  1. Maintain and inventory project-specific lab supplies.
  2. Participate in weekly lab cleaning.
  3. Follow detailed instructions to perform assigned experiments and procedures.
  4. Work safely in a BSL-2 environment with PPE and sterile technique.
  5. Support PCR workflows while preventing contamination.
  6. Record experimental details in electronic lab notebooks.
  7. Operate and maintain lab equipment per protocols and safety standards.
  8. Provide regular progress updates to the supervisor.
  9. Perform additional assigned tasks.
  10. Comply with all corporate and Quality Management System requirements.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED with 1–2 years lab experience; associate degree with biology coursework preferred.

Other Information

  • Works under direct supervision.
  • No supervisory duties.
  • Full-time, onsite role.
