Accounting Associate – $ Competitive Pay | Full-Time

Location: Charles City, IA
Schedule: 7:30 - 4 pm, Monday through Friday

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an Accounting Associate for a growing cooperative organization in Charles City, IA. This position is ideal for someone with accounting experience who is eager to grow professionally, work within a collaborative team, and gain exposure to high-volume invoice processing and core accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, code, and process approximately 3,000+ invoices per month

  • Attach supporting documentation (BOLs, purchase orders, packing slips) to invoices

  • Reconcile vendor statements and request missing invoices as needed

  • Process vendor payments by check and ACH while maintaining payment terms

  • Apply customer payments and process monthly customer statements

  • Handle correspondence related to overdue accounts

  • Process invoices through Psigen and Laserfiche approval workflows

  • Answer phones and direct calls appropriately

  • Update monthly spreadsheets and process manual ACH checks

  • Maintain accurate records and perform other accounting duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 1–3 years of accounting experience required

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Strong computer skills and comfort working in accounting systems

  • Team-oriented with a willingness to assist across departments
