The Band Saw Operator is responsible for accurately cutting raw materials to specification using band saw equipment in a state-of-the-art fabrication facility equipped with advanced technologies including abrasive waterjet, fiber laser, CNC machinery, and a robust quality assurance program. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are prepared efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with quality, traceability, and customer requirements.
Set up, operate, and monitor band saw equipment to cut metal and other materials according to work orders, drawings, and specifications
Measure, mark, and inspect materials to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met
Adjust blade speed, feed rate, and tension based on material type and thickness
Read and interpret work instructions, cut lists, blueprints, and job travelers
Maintain material traceability by properly labeling, documenting, and tracking materials throughout the cutting process
Perform routine equipment maintenance including blade changes, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting
Collaborate with CNC, waterjet, laser, and quality teams to support smooth workflow and production efficiency
Adhere to all safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Accurately record production data and report any non-conforming material or equipment issues
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience operating band saws or similar cutting equipment preferred
Ability to use precision measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers)
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and shop math
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn advanced manufacturing technologies
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required
Familiarity with ISO or formal quality systems a plus
Manufacturing and fabrication setting utilizing advanced cutting and CNC technologies
Exposure to machinery, moving materials, and industrial noise (PPE required)
Team-oriented, fast-paced environment focused on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
