Our client is an industry-leading manufacturer of rough terrain forklifts and attachments, known for innovation, quality, and performance in demanding environments. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve manufacturing operations across safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide hands-on, product-focused engineering support for manufacturing operations. This role plays a key part in process development, CNC programming, tooling, continuous improvement, and the successful launch of new products into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing with a focus on safety, quality, process optimization, and continuous improvement
- Develop, verify, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including:
- Process definitions and method records
- Assembly, test, and inspection procedures
- Ensure accurate execution of documented production processes
- Collaborate closely with the Product Design Group to resolve design-for-manufacturing and quality issues
- Support product improvements and new product/option releases
- Communicate technical requirements to equipment suppliers, support supplier improvement initiatives, and resolve performance issues
- Program all CNC equipment using CAD/CAM software (Radan), including:
- CNC/NC lathes
- Machining centers
- Cutting centers and other programmable equipment
- Provide engineering support for test jigs, fixtures, tooling, and gauges
- Coordinate tooling and gauging development and improvements
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, gauging, fixturing, or processes
- Estimate machining cycles and support production planning
- Participate in the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process to minimize obsolete inventory and ensure correct engineering levels
- Coordinate smooth introduction of new products into production
- Lead and support plant layout, equipment layout, and process improvement initiatives
- Conduct time studies, work simplification programs, and cost analysis
- Analyze production costs, inventory levels, and utilization of machinery and resources
- Support preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability studies
- Advise management on risks, issues, and opportunities for operational improvement
- Participate in troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and special projects as required
The Ideal Candidate
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive and relevant manufacturing engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of: machining and manufacturing processes & CNC programming and CAD/CAM systems
- Quality systems and problem-solving methodologies
- Experience in high-mix or heavy equipment manufacturing is an asset
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment
This role is open to both experienced Manufacturing Engineers and strong junior candidates with machining and CNC exposure.
