Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for adult and pediatric patients
  • Provide direct respiratory therapy services as assigned
  • Manage ventilated patients, including ventilator setup, adjustment, and monitoring
  • Perform tracheostomy care, airway management, suctioning, and cuff pressure monitoring
  • Wean patients from mechanical ventilation per established protocols
  • Accurately document all therapeutic and diagnostic activities in the medical record
  • Assess the appropriateness of respiratory care orders and communicate variances with physicians
  • Develop and manage individualized respiratory care plans based on patient assessment
  • Participate in patient rounds and serve as a respiratory care resource to the healthcare team
  • Educate patients and family members on treatment procedures and pulmonary health
  • Respond to emergencies including cardiopulmonary arrest, performing CPR and airway care
  • Perform equipment setup, troubleshooting, quality control, and maintenance
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement, safety, and process enhancements
  • Participate in clinical education, in-services, and peer review activities
  • Maintain clinical competency in accordance with professional standards

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care Technology preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant respiratory therapy experience
  • Current state licensure and required credentials
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • PALS certification required (may be completed after hire)
  • Ability to apply pediatric respiratory principles in a clinical setting
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of critical thinking and problem-solving
