Machine Foreman

Position Summary:
The Machine Foreman oversees daily machine shop operations in a steel fabrication environment. This role ensures production goals are met, machines operate safely and efficiently, and team members follow proper procedures and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise machine operators and support staff in the steel fabrication area.

• Assign daily tasks and monitor workflow, production schedules, and deadlines.

• Ensure machines such as saws, punches, drills, plasma cutters, and beam lines are set up and operated correctly.

• Troubleshoot machine issues and coordinate maintenance as needed.

• Train new employees on safety, machine operations, and quality requirements.

• Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy and compliance with drawings.

• Maintain a clean, safe working environment following OSHA and company policies.

• Communicate with supervisors, fitters, welders, and quality control to keep production moving.

• Track material usage, downtime, and production output.

• Recommend improvements for productivity and efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong background in structural steel fabrication, machinery, and equipment.

• Experience operating and troubleshooting industrial steel-processing machines.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.

• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

• Knowledge of safety standards and shop procedures.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to train, mentor, and motivate a team.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

• Standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the shop for extended periods.
