Schedule: Full‑Time | 7:00AM–4:00PM | 6‑Month Assignment with Potential to Extend Pay: $34/hr | Overtime as needed past 4:00PM

Express Employment Professionals of Baton Rouge is seeking an experienced Machinist to support a manufacturing/repair environment. This role involves operating a variety of machine tools, producing precision parts, and performing modifications or repairs on mechanical instruments and industrial machinery.

Primary Duties

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and geometric tolerances

• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments

• Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments and machine components

• Apply knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures

• Operate manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes/mills

• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges

• Perform routine tasks using basic shop equipment and tools

• Maintain accuracy, quality, and safety throughout all machining processes

• Communicate clearly and effectively when requesting actions or sharing information

• Plan, organize, and prioritize tasks with guidance to meet business objectives

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment

• Experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes/mills

• Ability to interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances

• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges)

• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles

• Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work overtime as needed
