Senior Buyer / Planner

Premier opportunity with a well-established manufacturing organization located in Niles, IL. We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer / Planner to lead procurement strategy, demand planning, and supplier performance while supporting production efficiency and cost optimization.

This role is ideal for a hands-on supply chain professional who can think strategically, execute tactically, and partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Lead demand forecasting and long-range material planning to support production and business goals

• Own inventory strategy to balance service levels, cost control, and material availability

• Manage and develop supplier relationships, including performance, pricing, and quality metrics

• Create, approve, and manage Purchase Orders within the ERP system (Epicor preferred)

• Lead pricing negotiations and support quality assurance initiatives

• Proactively expedite critical orders and resolve complex delivery or supply chain disruptions

• Perform advanced job time and cost analysis to drive operational improvements

• Maintain and optimize Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Operations (BOO)

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on new product introductions and process improvements

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior purchasing or planning staff as needed

Requirements:

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week

• Flexible scheduling available; minimum of 3 onsite days per week required

• Advanced experience with Inventory Management Systems and ERP platforms (Epicor strongly preferred)

• Strong understanding of manufacturing product mix and material utilization

• Proven project management and supplier negotiation experience

• Strong analytical, financial, and cost modeling skills

• In-depth procurement and supply chain knowledge

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

$30.00 – $33.00 per hour
