We’re partnering with Broder Electric, a leading electrical contracting company in Ottawa, to recruit a skilled Technical Services Technologist to join their team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Technical Supervisor, estimators, and project managers to support daily operations.
The position is a blend of 60% technical responsibilities and 40% administrative tasks, offering a balance of hands-on technical work and office-based coordination.
Required skills and qualifications
- CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) with strong technical and administrative expertise
- Skilled in research, mapping, interpreting blueprints, electrical drawings, and technical specifications
- Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills
- Adaptable, quick learner, and able to work under pressure
- Strong multitasking, organization, and workload prioritization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; adapts quickly to new software
- Proactive in identifying and completing tasks, even if not directly assigned
- Detail-oriented with strong grammar, punctuation, and editing abilities
- Able to obtain Secret Level 2 clearance; bilingual English/French an asset
- Provide coordination support across diverse scopes of work, including manpower, materials, customer communication, and resource allocation
- Schedule upcoming work for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Compile and reconcile field reports, analyzing incoming data against established standards
- Prepare and distribute quotations to customers and manage associated purchase orders
- Support development activities, including Electrical Coordination and Arc Flash Studies
- Manage contracts and accounts, ensuring accurate tracking and follow-up
- Monitor and respond to daily emails, redirecting as needed to appropriate team members
- Prepare and track monthly billing, from initial application through final invoicing
- Create and manage projects, including job start-up, shop drawings, billing lines, and material orders
- Generate and track purchase orders, liaising with suppliers as required
- Assist with tasks outside standard role to support team needs
- Proactively identify and complete necessary tasks, such as performing LOT take-offs from drawings
- Create documents, letters, and spreadsheets to track and process shop drawings, material orders, and other project details
- Maintain organized filing systems for both physical and electronic documents

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 per year depending on experience.
Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, overtime is required at times depending on workload and deadlines.
